I don’t know about you, but there is something about this year 2016. I have seen more people check out of here way too soon this year than I ever have before. It has me thinking a lot about life and living.
We all hear people say that life is too short in a sort of cliché way. But it really is. It REALLY is.
And sadly a lot of people are alive but aren’t really living. A lot of us have placed more importance on what people think about us and what we do instead of valuing our own happiness.
We have unrealized dreams and unfulfilled goals because we’re afraid to disappoint somebody – a parent, a spouse, a teacher, a friend.
Years go by of living a life based on someone else’s approval and we look back on years of time wasted not doing what we really wanted to do or what we could have done if we weren’t so worried about what someone was going to think of us.
People’s opinions and judgments about you will never stop. People are going to talk about you no matter what you do.
But when do WE stop caring about what people think about us and about what people say about us, and start living our lives according to what makes us happy? Yeah, it’s always nicer and easier if people approve of the decisions you make in your life. But what if they don’t? Who do you please – yourself or other people?
When does the need for other people’s approval stop?
When we care too much about what other people think, it holds us back and it keeps us seeing the average or below-average version of ourselves in the mirror. If you do something you really don’t want to do, you’re not going to get the best results because you’re not 100% committed. Your heart’s not in it.
But when you follow your heart and eliminate fear and doubt, UNBELIEVABLE THINGS HAPPEN!
It’s not easy to stick to what you believe when those closest to you doubt you.
But you must.
Because this is your life and you only get this one life to live. And yes, life is short. And yes, time waits for no one. And yes, time flies. And let’s all agree that all of the other clichés that declare the obvious fact that not one of us is going to live forever are true.
How long we live is completely out of our control.
But HOW we live is 100% our decision.
Your best life is just outside your comfort zone. True happiness and satisfaction is yours for the taking.
Let’s get comfortable with being uncomfortable! Promise yourself to permanently delete any lower-case thoughts and proactively will yourself to consistently DREAM BIG AND BOLD IN ALL-CAPS WITH AN EXCLAMATION POINT!
There is a quote that says, “in the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take.” I wish I could tell you that life has a rewind button. It does not. But I cannot curb my enthusiasm enough about the fact that LIFE HAS A PLAY BUTTON! I encourage you today to push play and make your own music, dance to your own beat, for your own freedom.
Life is such an amazingly tremendous and beautiful gift.
So go with your gut, live your truth, seize the day, go for what you know, do you boo, to thine own self be true.
In the words of Dr. Seuss, “Those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”
How will you/have you decided to PUSH PLAY in your life? Tell me in the comments below.
From my heart to yours,
